Delayed Pregnancy Brain

I cast on for the Five College Sweater when I was about 7 or 8 months pregnant with Maya. I used some mystical formula for the sizing of the sweater that escapes me now, especially since I've lost the pattern and all notes that went with it. The sweater may have had a chance of fitting 30 pounds ago, but unless I want to start a skin tight, unflattering pseudo Gansey trend I'll opt out of wearing the sweater in public.

I shamelessly modeled the ill fitting gansey for La on Saturday, and we had a good laugh. Ironically I was shoveling her costco cookies (almost as tasty as costco chicken) in my mouth while complaining bitterly about the 30 pounds I have to lose.
I also used a patented Fickleknitter formula for determining the sizing of the U Neck Sweater. I discovered my gauge swatch was over by a quarter stich and I used that information to calculate that the width would be 2 inches bigger than if I were at the specified gauge. I added the extra two inches to the sizes prescribed in the book and chose accordingly.

I hope this one is a bit closer to the mark. Although I'm a bit afraid of trying it on. I think I can overcome my sweater-trying-on fears with the consumption of some more costco cookies, but they will do nothing for my Mommy waistline.

Eh, you’ll fit into it by winter, I’m sure :)

The five-college sweater is looking great! Just in case you need to squint at the picture some more, I’ve had to move my site to a new domain – just sub the new domain (spacecaseknits.com) for the old, and you should be all set!
