We say goodbye to a nice July. David Lynch

One of the best things about living in the LA area is Indie 103.1 fm. My new favorite part (and there have been many previous, Jonesy's Lunch time show, the Copyright Question/Answer hour on friday mornings, that they play songs from the best Rhino Record ever) is when David Lynch does the weather, Monday through Friday 9:45am. After a brief intro of spooky music Mr Lynch reports on LA Weather; He converts the temperature from Fahrenheit to Celsius, and ends with an inspirational quote. Amusing in more ways than I can name.
Another good thing about living in Sunny SoCal is meeting another down to earth Mommy. I've made my first Mom friend. We meet during a weekly Kids Club (Send in the Clowns, Puppets, and Rainforest Music. What can I say I love my kid) and exchange priceless information: Free things to do locally with kids. Everything costs you something in Southern California. Parking is as much as a quarter per quarter hour. More if you're especially close to the building you need to frequent or for beach access. Museums? Not free. Mall Parking? Sometimes free. Restaurant Parking? Parking Validation if you're lucky.
So we sit in the sun and frantically scribble down new found discoveries since our last meeting, while our kids giggle at each other and occassionally cast a glance toward Kids Club Shenanigans. As I memorize the times and dates of free stuff (if that isn't punk rock, I don't know what is) to do, I feel contentment about my new Mom Friend and this new era of my life.

Wow, I stop visiting your blog for awhile and look what happens. Maya is beautiful — welcome to motherhood. It’s a great, frustrating, exhilarating and despair worthy experience.
