Early Morning Construction

Posted on Nov 12, 2007. 7 comments

There is construction going on in my neighborhood. I identify with the local construction as I reconstruct the new me, defined by having a father who has passed away. I'd like to take the opportunity to thank each and every person who has left a comment or sent me an email. It has meant so much to me and buoyed me in my time of great need.
This is what my neighborhood construction looks like before the hour of 7 am.

Maya and I have been taking walks in the morning, with the hopes that lots of walking will diminish my c-section belly. I have No Reservations that this will shrink my new body, but desperation drives one to do silly things sometimes.
Speaking of "No Reservations" I must admit I was wrong, wrong, wrong about "Have Fork Will Travel," and my tivo was right in recording every episode of No Reservations on the Travel Channel, faithfully. It's my new favorite show, hands down. The host, Anthony Bourdain is real and as raw as it gets. The show is like Globe Trekker but with much more drinking, smoking, and cursing. I can't help but feel like I've gotten to know the host as he's traipsed through Sao Paolo, Paris, Argentina, Sicily, and Tuscany. I love his writing style, wry humor and I'm totally hooked on the show.
This post would be incomplete without a finished object and since the person has received her gift, I feel it's appropriate to show it here. I knit a little turtle knits soaker, a pair of Saarjte's Booties, and a newborn hat of my own design, and embellished all with dmc thread found at my local big box craft store.

But more importantly I'm sure Stephanie would appreciate your easy delivery vibes right about now.

I like watching his show when I’m at the health club in the hopes that I will be turned off by whatever he’s eating so I don’t get the hunger pangs the minute I get off the machine. Your baby gift is adorable!!!

Awwwwww… Look at those booties! Little tiny feet will fit into those booties! You rock! How adorable. That’s a reason to have a baby.

Glad you enjoyed No Reservations – I thought you would. Gotta love it when it has caution about the content before every segment!

Holy cow, such cuteness! I love the embroidery on the simple white.

OMG – you designed that stuff?? How cute! You’re so talented – I’m jealous. Try as I might, the knitting thing will probably not work out for me. Or the crocheting thing. It might work better if I had someone to teach me instead of trying to do it myself.
I can related to the construction thing. When we were in our last apartment, they were tearing up the road behind the building so they could repave it. Nothing like being rattled out of bed at 7 in the morning by a GIGANTIC MACHINE TEARING UP ASPHALT. Gah!
