A Grand New Era

I've felt the cool crunch of the pebbles of the Washington Mall between the Capitol Building and the Washington Monument under my feet. The small stones beaten down and worn throughout the years by injustice.
These new pebbles go untouched by my eager feet separated by time and distance, reverberating with the strength and the power of our new President. Bringing hope. And warning us of the work to come.
My daughter sings along in her baby voice, wordlessly as the Star Spangled banner closes the Inauguration. I wish my Father had lived to see this day as he would feel proud. Just as I am. May we all rise to the challenge.
To quote the beautiful words of Rev. Joseph Lowery
That all those who do Justice and love Mercy say Amen

I was in DC right after 9/11 when it was utterly and completely deserted. To see all those people yesterday on the Mall was just amazing.
