Regularly scheduled programming has been interrupted.

I had a knitting post in the queue ready to go when I found out today that my favorite all time radio station went belly up. Indie 103 regularly played music from the best rhino record ever (reason enough to listen!), had David Lynch doing weather, a Henry Rollins show, Steve Joneses Lunch show Jonsey's Jukebox, and my personal favorite Joe Escalante's Barely Legal morning show. According to Perez the station was shuttered for refusal to play main stream music such as Britney Spears and P Diddy.
This is a real pisser. I so enjoyed the smart DJs, fantastic music, and a way to introduce my daughter to artists and music in a way that would shape her as a human being to go against the grain and be herself no matter what.
The upside is the station is continuing with many of the DJs available here for free.
RIP Indie! We'll miss you, but the Indie spirit always lives on. Thanks for making a way for us die hard fans to listen.
Read my previous mentions of the station here, here, and here.

That does suck but at least you had them as long as you did. Small cold comfort.

Pity. At least they took the high road, if only to cut off their nose in the process.
I’m sure the Internets radio show will be every bit as good, and without pesky FCC regs to encumber coarse language, it might be even better.

that is so sad. I listen to talk radio most days and would be totally pissed if they shut down my favorite stations.
